Turtles All the Way Down

“Turtles All The Way Down” is a layout project completed in the Spring Semester of my Junior year of university. There were three sections to this project. The first was a photo walk through the Garfield Park Conservatory, where we took photos of various plants or creatures.

Then we chose a species, and researched its meaning, and planned out an illustration based on the research and species we had chosen. Another part of the project was to create a collage out of physical materials to use in the project.

I ended up editing the colors of the photos I had taken at the conservatory, and then printing them out to turn them into a sort of digital, glitched style collage image. I then took photos of the collage with my camera and a spotlight, and inserted them into a fake magazine article I created.

Since the text was not the main focus of this design, I used a ChatGPT prompt I wrote about the benefits of building a pond in your backyard. I then edited the output to fit the layout that I had designed, and also to sound less formal.

Here are some examples of the natural photography
